Menopause – Life Changing

Some women consider menopause to be a very welcome time in their life, one which frees them from the possibility of getting pregnant and from their monthly menstrual cycle.

Other women, on the other hand, have so much difficulty during menopause that they dread the fact that it ever came in the first place.  The difficulties that they experience may range from headaches and hot flashes to severe depression and overall discomfort.  This is mainly due to an imbalance within the body, typically estrogen and progesterone.  In order for you to overcome these difficulties, it is often necessary for you to balance your body on the inside.  Here are some ways that you can prepare for this natural biological process and help deflect some of the common discomforts.

The first, and most important way that you can balance your body is to make sure that you’re hydrated fully.  Many of the ills that we have regularly can be traced directly to the fact that we are not drinking enough fluids.  An imbalance in the body can be corrected to a large extent if we drink enough water in order to hydrate ourselves fully.

There have been some studies that indicate the traditional “8 glasses of water daily” regime is unnecessary, and may even be harmful.    That is a claim for each individual to research on their own.  However, water is vital and assists in maintaining proper body functions and balances.  During your menopausal years, ensure that you hydrate throughout the day, and especially in the morning to make up for lost moisture during sleep.

Something else that is very important for you to do is to exercise regularly.  Unfortunately, many women tend to skip out on exercise when in reality, it is one of the best things that they can possibly do.  Not only will exercise help to balance you on the inside, it will give you what is necessary to have the energy for the day and to sleep well at night.

Regular exercise for older women also helps to increase bone density and muscle tone.  Bone density decreases with age, particularly during and after the onset of menopause.  If you exercise regularly for just a few weeks, you will love it so much that you could never imagine a day whenever you do not do it.

Finally, if you want to make sure that you are eating a healthy and balanced diet.  The easiest way to do this is to add plenty of raw fruits, certain grains,  and vegetables into your daily diet, as many as you want.  The healthier you eat, the healthier you will feel and a healthier you will be.  It may sound simplistic, but it really is that easy.

Whether menopause is a welcome time in many women’s lives or not, it is also a time that can bring about some rather severe changes that many may not have been prepared for.  Some of the symptoms  experienced during menopause will eventually disappear on their own but it is better to be able to identify them and the natural treatments in order to overcome them in the mean time.  Below are some common problems that the pre-menopausal and menopausal woman may experience and what can be done to overcome them.

Unclear Thinking – As the hormones are fluctuating within the body, it may make it difficult for you to focus on your thoughts at any given time.  Interestingly enough, this may also be increased if you have a difficulty with your thyroid gland.  In order to overcome these things and to think as clearly as possible, it may be necessary for you to take some natural items, such as St. John’s wort.  Exercise and healthy eating may also contribute to getting your mind back to where it was before.

Skin Problems – There are so many different things that can occur with your skin as a result of the changes on the inside of your body.  Remember, your skin is the largest organ of your body and it is the one that is going to be visible to your eyes.  Changes in your skin which can vary from oily skin to dry skin should be expected during this time in your life.  By using some natural oil, such as coconut oil or vitamin E daily, you should be able to balance out your skin’s health.  Dry skin brushing may also go a long way in helping you to have a glowing skin that may actually be better then before you entered into menopause.

Fibroids – It is not unusual for a woman to experience fibrous growths on her uterus or perhaps even on her ovaries in and around the time when she is going through menopause.  For the most part, these benign growths are not going to do any harm although they may cause some additional problems with your hormone levels.  Making sure that you keep your weight in check, getting some exercise and perhaps even some traditional Chinese acupuncture may help you overcome these problems.  Fortunately, fibroids often disappear after menopause and are rarely ever a problem in your later years.
